The Sierra Leone Public Transport Authority (SLPTA) has responded to information about the inferno that occurred at the Kissy Bus Depot in Freetown on Friday, 5th June 2026.

In a public notice issued by the SLPTA, the Authoriry informed the public that the incident occurred at the Kissy Bus Depot at approximately 10:00p.m. on Friday.

The Authority confirmed that the fire destroyed five government owned buses that operate on provincial routes. It also clarified that no ‘Waka Fine’ buses were affected, dispelling rumours suggesting that some of the ‘Waka Fine’ buses were involved in the fire incident.
They said the National Fire Force (NFF) responded swiftly to put out the fire before it could spread to other buses and facilities at the depot, adding that no casualties have so far been reported.
