The groundbreaking ceremony for the Waterloo InnoVent Solar Park (WISP) in Sumaila Town, Waterloo, in the Western Area Rural District (WARD) officially took place recently.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the WISP project marked a transformative step towards a more stable, sustainable, and resilient national power supply.
Led by the French independent power producer InnoVent, Phase 1 of the project will deliver 30MWh, with a planned Phase 2 expansion of 200MWh. Together, these developments will help produce cleaner, more sustainable, and more resilient energy to the citizens.
The WISP project represents a significant investment in the country’s energy future, supporting grid stability, economic growth, and long-term energy resistance.
Meanwhile, the government is making big progress by installing plenty of solar power to Lungi in Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom, Port Loko District.
The project is part of a major plan to improve electricity supply in the country.
A 10MW solar plant is being developed in Lungi to provide clean and reliable energy to the community.
The township is currently bracing up for permanent electricity as the solar grid is 80% in completion.
