The Sierra Leone Railways Development and Regulatory Authority (SLRDRA) office at No.16 Perry Avenue at Wilkinson Road was officially commissioned on Thursday, May 21 ,2026 by the Minister of Transport and Aviation, Alhaji Fanday Turay , the Senior Permanent Secretary, Mr. Kwame Yankson and the Board Chairman, Mr. Mohammed Tejan-Kella. The Ceremony commenced with an opening prayer, followed by the introduction of distinguished dignitaries and officials present at the opening. The gathering was convened to officially open the new office space of the Sierra Leone Railways Development and Regulatory Authority, marking another significant steps towards strengthening the operational and institutional capacity of the Authority.

In delivering his welcoming address, the Honourable Minister , Alhaji Fanday Turay , expressed appreciation to the Director General ,the Deputy Director General, Directors and all staff. The Minister described the opening of the office as a milestone in the continued development and modernization of the railway sector in Sierra Leone.
The Minister emphasized Government’s commitment to improving transportation infrastructure and ensuring that the Authority is adequately positioned to effectively carry out its railway regulatory and development mandates. The Minister further encouraged staff members to uphold professionalism accountability and dedication in the discharge of their duties.
According to the Permanent Secretary in his statement, he congratulated the Authority on the acquisition and opening of the new office . The Senior Permanent Secretary noted that a new facility would provide a more conducive working environment for staff and enhance administrative support for the growth and institutional strengthening of the Authority.

The Director General, Ing. Dr. Albert Forde, in his remarks expressed gratitude to the Government, the Ministry Heads ,the Board and Stakeholders, whose contributions made the opening of the office possible . He highlighted the importance of the Railway sector in Sierra Leone.
In his remarks, he encouraged every staff member to be ready to work cordially, productively for the betterment of the Authority in it service delivery. He assured the staff that the Authority will continue to work diligently towards achieving its strategic objectives in regulating and developing the railway sector in Sierra Leone.
The Board Chairman, Mr. Tejan-Kella, commended the effort of the Management for working diligently to ensure that the new office space is ready for use. The Chairman stated that the opening of the office symbolized progress, institutional growth and the authority’s readiness to effectively deliver on its mandate.
The Deputy Director General, in his remarks, encouraged continued collaboration among management and staff to ensure the success and sustainability of the Authority’s mandate and activities.
