The Sierra Leone Association of Journalists has joined citizens in celebrating the 65th Independence Anniversary of Sierra Leone, extending warm congratulations to Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad.
In a statement, SLAJ President Alhaji Manika Kamara described the occasion as a proud moment for national reflection and renewed commitment to unity and progress.
He said the association remains committed to promoting a credible, independent, and responsible media that upholds truth, accountability, and national cohesion.
Mr Kamara emphasized that journalists continue to play a key role in strengthening democracy by amplifying citizens’ voices and supporting national development through fair and accurate reporting.
He called on Sierra Leoneans to use the 65th Independence Anniversary as an opportunity to reinforce patriotism, peace, and collective progress.
Sierra Leone is celebrating its independence under the theme “One Nation, One People, One Future,” with various institutions sending messages of goodwill and national unity.
