Western Area Rural District Council Chairman and a powerful patron of the APC, Kasho Joseph Holland-Cole, has urged President Julius Maada Bio to continue entrusting Vice President Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh with leading mediation and negotiation efforts between the government and the opposition.
Speaking to AYV, Holland-Cole described the Vice President as a national-minded leader whose approach reflected the broader interests of Sierra Leone.
The APC stalwart’s remarks followed what had been largely described as a fruitful engagement between the Vice President and APC-led local council leaders.
During the meeting on Wednesday, held under his leadership as Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Decentralization and Local Governance, the Vice President called for calm, cooperation, and a renewed focus on service delivery amid ongoing political tensions.
He noted that their discussions were centered on the urgent need to resolve the impasse to enable councils to function effectively, stating that all parties shared a mutual desire for a swift resolution so that local authorities can continue providing essential services to citizens.
Meanwhile, President Bio on Friday received the Lead Moral Guarantor of the mediated dialogue process, Fatoumata Jallow-Tambajang, and her delegation at State House.
The President reaffirmed his commitment to the Agreement for National Unity, recalling his role in initiating the October 2023 mediated dialogue and assuring continued support for efforts aimed at maintaining peace, stability, and constructive political engagement.
