The Satellite has gathered from authoritative sources in the football fraternity in Sierra Leone that the former Leone Stars Head Coach may be disqualified for the final selection process for a new Leone Stars Head Coach.
According to the sources, out of the 79 coaches who have applied for the position, including 3 local and 76 foreign coaches, it’s only Mohamed Kallon who has taken to the social media to whip up sympathy from the public.
The authorities of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) are reportedly annoyed that while they are carefully reviewing all submissions for Leone Stars Head Coach with professionalism and due diligence, Mohamed Kallon has taken to the social media for the public to influence the rigorous selection process.
“It is only out of arrogance and disrespect that Mohamed Kallon is using the social media to ensure the public empathise with him even when the list of candidates has not yet been shortlisted,” a member of the football fraternity fumed.
Sources close to SLFA believe that Mohamed Kallon’s social media activities related to the ongoing selection process could militate against him in the final selection process. The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) announced in a news release on Wednesday, 13th May 2026, that the application process for the Leone Stars Head Coach position closed on Tuesday, 12th May 2026.
According to the release, “…a total of Seventy-Nine (79) applications – 3 local and 76 foreign) were received,” noting, “the SLFA Technical Committee and Technical Department are currently reviewing all submissions.”
The release furthered that “shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the next stage of the process, which includes interviews.”
“The Association remains committed to a transparent and merit-based recruitment process,” the release, signed by the SLFA Head of Media and Marketing, Ibrahim Kamara, concluded.
