The Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO) has conducted a maintenance exercise that will ensure the resumption of water supply becomes a reality in Mile 91, Yoni Chiefdom, Tonkolili District. On the approval of Management, the Technical Director of SALWACO North, Ing. Augustine Forewa, and the Maintenance Manager, Ing. Jah Edward Toby, alongside SALWACO’s newly transferred Station Manager of Mile 91, Ing. Abdulai Charles Kargbo, and a team of support staff successfully fixed the water problem of the community.
Residents are now assured of safe drinking water. It could be recalled that when Ing. Tiideni Hawa Jabbi took over as the Managing Director of SALWACO in November, 2025, she conducted a nationwide assessment of the water situation in all SALWACO areas of operations. She promised to look into all matters with a view to address same. Making SALWACO a fully functional and financially viable institution is the new mantra of the water company and steps are already being taken in achieving the said vision. Residents of Mile 91 will now have access to safe and clean drinking water at a very affordable rate.
It is, however, important that people and customers also pay for water rates as and when reasonably called for.
SALWACO is committed to continue to improve on situations nationwide.
