SSThe National Revenue Authority (NRA) will host the 32nd Conference of Directors General of Customs and Committee of Experts of the World Customs Organisation – West and Central Africa Region (WCO-WCA).
The 32nd Conference will be hosted at the Freetown International Conference Centre in Aberdeen, Freetown, from Monday 4th to Friday 8th May 2028, respectively.
According to a news release issued by NRA, ‘This important regional gathering will bring together Directors General of Custons, senior customs officials, technical experts, development partners, and other key stakeholders from countries across the West and Central Africa Region under the theme ‘A customs service that peotects society through its vigilance and commitment’ to deliberate on matters of strategic impoetance to customs administration, trade facilitation, border security, and regional cooperation,” the release states.
It added that the hosting of the conference will bring major benefits to Sierra Leone and the region, such as raising the country’s international standard, highlighting ongoing customs and revenue reforms, and creating opportunities for stronger regional and global partnerships.
The conference is also expected to stimulate economic activities in sectors such as hospitality, transport, tourism, and services while reaffirming Sierra Leone’s commitment to a modern, transparent, and technology-driven customs system.
“The NRA considers the conference a key strategic opportunity to advance its efforts in domestic revenue mobilisation, trade facilitation, and national development,” the release, by order of the Commissioner General, concluded.
