Zainab Sheriff hasbeen sentenced to four years, two months imprisonment after she was found guilty on two counts of incitement and the use of threatening language contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.
The Sierra Leonean entertainer, model, and political activist has been in jail since her first court appearance on 23rd February 2026.
The judgment was delivered yesterday, Tuesday 14th April 2026, by Magistrate Brima Jah at the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 1.
In his ruling, the Magistrate stated that the prosecution had successfully proven its case beyond reasonable doubts.
According to the court, the sentences on both counts will run consecutively, resulting in combined custodian terms for four years, two months.
The ruling brings an end to a case that has drawn widespread public attention, with proceedings spanning multiple court appearances before the final judgment yesterday.
It could be recalled that the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) fined the opposition All People’s Congress (APC) party a total of NLe350,000 (NLe200,000 and NLe150,000) for violations of Section 39(1)(c) and (d) of the Political Parties Act 2022.
The fines were imposed on the APC National Secretary Lansana Dumbuya Esq. and Zainab Sheriff due to profane, obscene, provocative, and inciting statements they made during the party’s “mammoth meeting” at Attouga Mini Stadium in Freetown on 31st January 2026.
The action followed prior warning letter to the APC dated November 11, 2025, and the party was given seven days to pay the fines or face further measures under the Act.
