Vice President, Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, has called on Sierra Leoneans to support Proportional Representation as a means of strengthening political inclusion and improving women’s representation in national decision-making.

He made the appeal on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, while delivering remarks at the closing of the National Unity and Social Cohesion Conference at the Bintumani Conference Centre in Freetown.
The Vice President identified inclusion as a key factor in building trust and strengthening relations among Sierra Leoneans. “One critical pathway to building trust and cohesion is to progressively address the fears of exclusion and social injustice,” he said.
His statement highlighted the need to address concerns about unequal participation and ensure that citizens have confidence in the systems through which public decisions are made.
Dr Juldeh Jalloh argued that women’s representation and broader political inclusion were vital to national cohesion. His call for support for Proportional Representation placed the electoral system within the wider discussion on peace, trust and social justice.
The conference, organised by the Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion, challenged national stakeholders to turn commitments to unity into practical action that responds to the concerns of citizens.
