Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, has been received and welcomed as a special guest of His Excellency, President Mamadi Doumbouya, by senior government officials and the people of Guinea in Conakry on the occasion of the country’s 68th Independence Day.

His presence as President Doumbouya’s guest comes against the backdrop of his recent working visit to Conakry, where he held high-level discussions with Guinea’s Prime Minister and Head of Government, Amadou Oury Bah, aimed at further strengthening the longstanding relationship between Sierra Leone and Guinea.
Those engagements, held in French, on 14 September, 2026 addressed key issues of mutual interest, including cooperation on migration, border security and trade, while also providing an opportunity to discuss concerns affecting Sierra Leonean nationals living and working in Guinea.

The two countries have continued to deepen Bilateral Cooperation, building on their shared history, geographical proximity and longstanding people-to-people ties.
Guinea attained independence from France on 2 October 1958. This year’s celebrations are being held under the theme, “Drawing Inspiration from the Past to Build the Future Together: Our Youth,” highlighting the role of young people in shaping the country’s future.
Vice President Dr. Juldeh Jalloh’s participation alongside President Doumbouya and other national and international guests underscores the close ties between the two neighbouring countries and the commitment of their governments to strengthening bilateral relations
