-SLPP NATIONAL PUBLICITY SECRETARY
The National Publicity Secretary of the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Moses Mambu, has claimed that all the documents that Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally is displaying in public about his membership in the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) are fake.
In a recent interview, Moses Mambu emphasised that the public notice he issued to Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally was only the beginning as more public notice would follow. According to the National Publicity Secretary, more individuals are expected to receive similar notices as the party intensifies its membership verification exercise.
Speaking in an interview on Radio Democracy 98.1 FM, Mambu disclosed that the party has established a committee to review its membership database and verify the status of individuals claiming to be paid-up members.
Mambu said the committee’s findings have shown that some individuals who identify themselves as SLPP members may not have fulfilled the party’s requirements for paid-up membership. “The letter to Musa Tarawally is just the beginning. More people will receive similar notices as we update our party membership database, ” Mambu disclosed. He added that the verification exercise was ongoing and that additional notices could be issued as the party concludes its review of the membership database. Earlier, the SLPP National Publicity Secretary had issued public notice informing all SLPP’s elected executives, officials, members, supporters, and stakeholders within and outside Sierra Leone that they should not engage, transact, negotiate or conduct any official business with Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally in the name, on behalf of or under the authority of the SLPP. This development comes after the SLPP National Chairman, Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa, directed Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally to immediately stop using the SLPP logo, parading as a member, or holding himself out as an aspirant for the SLPP flagbearership.
Though Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally, as a seasoned politician, has the right to challenge the decision of the SLPP National Chairman if he feels otherwise; he chose to ignore the established procedures and threatened to undo President Julius Maada Bio, the incumbent leader of the party he is aspiring to lead as flagbearer for the 2028 presidential election. Hon. Musa Tarawally and his caboodle also made vitriolic comments against the SLPP National Chairman for the directive, which they took umbrage at.
