The court proceedings involving Alfred Peter Conteh and Mohamed Sheridan Kamara against the All People\u2019s Congress (APC) Party have taken a new turn, with Justice Adrian directing the parties to file affidavits by Friday, 23 October 2026, ahead of further orders in the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The directive, issued during proceedings on Monday 19th October,2026 is expected to pave the way for additional judicial guidance on the conduct of the party\u2019s lower-level elections and the handling of electoral petitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Justice Fischer ordered both the plaintiffs and the respondents to submit their respective affidavits by the stipulated deadline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following the submissions, the court is expected to issue further directions on the way forward.
The court is also expected to consider further orders relating to the conduct of the Independent Elections Complaints Board (IECB) and the Independent Elections Management Committee (IEMC), particularly regarding electoral procedures and the handling of petitions arising from future elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Additionally, the Chairman of the IEMC has been directed to file an affidavit addressing the conduct of the just-concluded elections and other relevant challenges arising from the activities of committee members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, directives, as outlined in the proceedings, do not by themselves establish that all lower-level elections have been formally suspended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Mohamed Pope Kamara, who was cited for contempt of court, tendered a public apology, which Justice Adrian Fischer accepted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite accepting the apology, the Presiding Justice imposed a fine of NLe 10,000 on Mohamed Pope Kamara and prohibited him from participating in media-related activities, including writing articles and granting interviews, for 60 days, effective Monday, 19 October 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The next key development in the main matter is expected after the parties file their affidavits on Friday, 23 October 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The matter was adjourned to Tuesday 27th October, 2026 for further directives of the court before proceeding with the remaining elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
